The camera was refitted to our brand new platform, installed just before Christmas, as described here.
Screenshot by Kate showing the new gravel/slate and the pale woodwork at the top of the scaffolding which will soon hold the shroud which will cover the roof |
We have additional new cameras which we will be putting online very shortly.
The clip below was captured early this morning, and looks like our adult male chilling out on the new nest site. Ignore the speeding traffic below - Wendy has speeded this up from real time.
Note also how the bird coughs up a pellet during the video.....we think this is the first time we've seen this on a video.

My little boy came home from his school on tuesday and said they had been watching it but never saw it ..so we had a look and it was there but not seen it since .Luckily i took a snapshot of it so he could take into school to prove he saw it .He goes to Kensington junior school Ilkeston.
Hello Anonymous: great that your son's class has been watching the peregrine webcams.
Obviously it is very early in the nesting season so they won't be on the nest a great deal yet...and in addition, scaffolding is going up on the nave below which I'm sure will deter them visiting the nest during the daytime.
If you can tell the teacher that we can provide them with support/help please do. He or she can contact use via peregrines@derbyshirewt.co.uk .
