This summer we have had visitors to our Watch Points from China, France, Sweden, Canada, Australia, Estonia, USA, Israel, Spain, Poland, Russia and the Netherlands to name but a few!
Within the UK, it is rather pleasing to see almost as many folk living in Nottingham watching as there are from Derby. Of course our birds were later fledging than the single chick in Nottingham so that probably explains the recent surge in numbers from our 'rival city'!

Hits to the web cams and blog have now exceeded 200,000 since January, continued evidence of the number of people who visit our site. Do please keep on visiting. We will post news and updates on this blog throughout the summer, autumn and winter....and, from time to time, our adults will appear on the web cams. They stay here all year round as you probably know.

This morning we saw a peregrine but we did not know if it was a adult or a juivinile because when it rained the camra got wet. We looked at the map and we saw spots flashing we think because people where watching it. We just heard the peregrines call to each other and we heard the bell going ding dong ding dong. We just saw a peregrine scratching it self. The juivinile was preeming it,s head. It looks very wet.
I'm originally from Derby, but have lived in Finland for over four years now. I always read the blog and keep an eye on the webcams. I visited Derby in June and although I couldn't make it to one of the Watch Points we talked with some peregrine spotters around the Cathedral (including Ian Bradley who was very nice to meet). So greetings from Finland, and thanks for all the hard work of everyone involved :)
What is happening on the tower, I can see what looks like a person hand and some wood?
What has happened 2 webcam 2? It seems 2 have gone out of focus or sumthing cant see anything nw! From Christine

Regarding your list of towns people have visited the web site.
If it uses the IP address of the visitors computer to the site it may be giving the place where the ISP (internet service provider) is registered and not the place where the person is from ! .
eg, My ISP is in is town in Devon but I live in South-Derbyhire !.

Yes, the yellow flashing dots on our visitor map shows the places the last few visitors have come from. But it's not totally accurate. Try clicking on the map to get a larger map. Maybe Miss will get an Atlas out to help you discover where people like you have come from!
As Michael has said, our maps are not absolutely accurate, but it is the best we can do to indicate the local, national and global interest of all our visitors.
Hope everyone likes the new, clean tower camera, and that Phoebe wasn't too frightened when she saw my face in it yesterday lunchtime. I should have given you some warning.
The camera took ages to re-adjust and sadly I found a small crack in the front plate of the camera unit. So we'll watch and monitor whether it affects how well it works.
Meanwhile the live audio/video feed is settling down now, thanks to some tweaks made by Adam at SERCO in Derby. Later in the month we will extend the viewing time to 15 or 20 minutes, but this can't be done until mid July as Kevin, the wonderful IT man at Derby City Council is away for a while.
I forgot to mention that we are starting to see rather a lot of automated spam coming through. If this gets worse we'll be reinstating our pre-moderation of comments. This was really only removed during the height of excitement over the fledging period.

Comments like "I really like your wonderful blog post - do take a look at mine (click)" are typical of spam. Most gets stopped before going online, but we can't promise to be perfect all the time!
