I've Just Done a "Poo" on Mum; Do You Think She Noticed?

This clip clearly shows how peregrine chicks try to keep their nests clean(er) by doing a "projectile poo" away from the nest site. It's just too bad if Mum gets in my way!
Notice how, at the start of this clip, both parent and chick seem to synchronise their wing movements. This appears to be a not uncommon occurrence with peregrines. Double-click the image to play this YouTube video, which was recorded on 5th June 2007.

Not nice to do that to the one that feeds you ever day! Very beautiful animals indeed! Looking forward to see them when back in Derby again.

We've been avid watchers since the chicks were hatched and have seen many 'feeds'. Do the chicks (and adults) get all the water they need from the prey?

Yes, the chicks don't drink and therefore must be getting all the water they need from their food. Adult peregrines have been seen to drink and bathe in streams but how frequent or essential this activity is, no one really seems to know. If anyone sees or has seen or read of a peregrine drinking, please get in touch!
