Update Monday 25th: four eggs were spotted by Jean at 7am this morning with a photo of them on flickr.

With luck egg number 4 will appear perhaps on Monday and then the serious task of incubation will start in earnest.

Our female was persistently noisy earlier this afternoon when she seemed to be calling to the male who was above her, maybe wanting him to take over incubation ... she left eggs uncovered as she perched on ledge for 10 minutes, seemed much longer, before returning to cover them as male did not come ... very good views of the inside of her mouth!!!

There was a documentary on BBC1 today called Suoerfast Falcon with loads of riveting facts and footage about Peregrines. Central to the program was being able to follow a male from hatching to fledging and beyond.

I've watched it Dave and it was fabulous! Moses is incredible isn't he!? It's a great insight into these beautiful birds. The lure training was unbelievable, 3km! Incredible isn't. Thank you for sharing

ReplyDeleteThe nest is on the East side of the tower so it only gets the sun in the early mornings so keeping the eggs warm is vital.
Not too long now before the eggs start to hatch out.....fingers crossed!

One of the birds, the male I assume, is down on the pigeon nest just now having a look at it and then stayed perched there for a while.
