Today's The Day . . .?

We're likely to see our first fledge today. Do please close your browsers once you've finished watching to try and avoid the problem other users experiened at peak times when some experienced freezing images, but others didn't.

Of course, we'll all be watching to keep the equipment working as well as we can, and checking out for signs of that first successful -or unsuccessful - fledge.

Here's a comment from Colin Pass after an very early visit this morning

We got down at the Cathedral before 5am. Falcon brought a pigeon in, and
left them to tuck in. A while latter the falcon dropped down and fed them, they are
still a bit lazy and would rather let mum top them up,rather than pull for
themselves. Then not to be outdone, dad decided he would feed them. I left around
7.30am they had all disappeared back onto the tray, with tennis ball crops to
digest. I guess they will not been to keen to try and fledge for a view hours at
least, to busy sleeping their large meal off.

This is Colin's who's who of our ringed peregrine family:
011 Tiercel (male) oldest
009 Falcon (female)
010 Falcon (female)
008 Tiercel (male) Youngest the only one not to venture out on the edge of the tray yesterday.

Thanks for the description of the feeding time, Colin! I was rather wondering why the 4 birds were sprawled out on the gravel when I checked them this morning at 6.30 UK time :-)

Well, it looks like you have a nice day of weather for it at least! Everything crossed - go little ones, go safe.

Falcon has left the building 2.34

Now it certainly looks like one has taken the plunge, unless they're up to their usual tricks...

And I thought one had gone to hide behind two of the others like they did yesterday when i looked.

All action up at the green I should imagine.

Lets hope he/she is OK.

She spread her wings in one frame and gone the next. Brilliant. It looked like was taking the mick out of the tiercel just before.

Oh gosh, where's it gone? Where's it gone? I'm in a conference call and really shouldn't be watching... This is agonizing...

The remaining 3 are watching something rather attentively - they're all perched on the edge, and their heads are swivelling like they're watching a tennis match :-)

So hard to imagine what it must be like to take to the sky for the first time.

Congrats to the team. I'm sure we're all hoping he's OK and will soon return to the scrape.

Terry, I was trying to imagine what it must be like to take that first jump when you are not 100% certain that you CAN fly :-)

She's been located in the car park next door to Cathedral. Sitting on a low roof and looking fine.
Panic over.

Mum is on the Corbel below the nest, she is looking down, maybe the youngster is on the naive roof! From the way the others have been looking around it looks like there was a good bit of flying around. I hope he is okay.
